Beyond the Classroom…

There is more to school education than just funding. Having extracurricular activities and programs is vital to developing successful caring adults along with the classroom work. Best Buddies is one such program and every high school should have a chapter.

Thanks for leading the way in Carroll 2 Kennett HS!!

Go to their website New Hampshire - Best Buddies International and consider sponsoring a chapter and/or participating in one of their events.

Background: While serving as the PTSA President during my son’s junior and senior year of high school, a conversation led to the discussion of starting a Best Buddies Chapter. It was an easy yes for me to engage with contacting the organization, finding a fabulous 1st Vice Principal to sponsor along with other teachers, engage the PTSA in providing funds for t-shirts, etc… See the growth of all students who are partnered with others and building beautiful relationships beyond the classroom still warms my soul thinking about.

In ONE WEEK we play for something BIGGER than football…

Best Buddies, the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation experienced by people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), provides everything from integrated employment opportunities to family support and inclusive living programs for the more than 200 million people living with IDD worldwide.

In 2023, Dave Hausman of Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli teamed up with Kennett High School to bring Best Buddies New Hampshire to the Mount Washington Valley. Since then, the Kennett High School Chapter has welcomed nearly 100 students to the organization. Through the One-to-One Friendship Program, students with and without IDD have formed meaningful, lasting friendships. Thanks to the Leadership Development Program, students with and without IDD have learned what it takes to become leaders, public speakers, and advocates for diversity and inclusion.

This year, Kennett Football is proud to raise money for the Kennett chapter of this very worthy organization. Join us Saturday, October 17th for the first Kennett Cares Game which will feature a halftime Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition, along with even more exciting activities. Players are currently collecting pledges and will continue to do so through game day! Can’t make the game? Don’t know a player? Not to worry! Donations can be made right on our fundraising website at https://kennett-football-boosters.square.site/

As always, thank you for your continued support of Kennett Football!!
